A key parameter towards reliable operation of diesel engines is fuel quality. When a centralized fuel storage and supply system is installed, we offer a fuel conditioning skid in-line between the bulk storage tank and the distribution manifold to the generator sets. In general, our proposed units have a fine pre-filter, followed by a coalesce element, which then pass the diesel through a polishing (2 micron) element. These treatment skids are expensive, but in our view essential. Complete skids with differential pressure sensors, industrial booster pumps and pressure relieve valves which allow for diesel circulation (\u2018kidney function\u2019) are recommended.<\/p>\n

Fuel offloading is offered in line with preferred\/available fuel delivery logistics for each site. This can vary from permanently installed offload pumps with strainers and fuel totalizers (delivery vehicles without discharge pumps) through to simple piping to the bulk tank with overfill shutoff protection (delivery vehicles with discharge pumps).<\/p>\n

From experience we know that diesel in Africa can be sourced from refineries that do not necessarily comply with modern acceptable \u2018additive packs\u2019 and also do not reduce Sulphur levels sufficiently. High pressure common rail diesel engines are more sensitive to \u2018poor\u2019 diesel than previous generation engines. We have identified an additive which is very effective with modern injectors and recommend a dosing system as part of our fuel treatment equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
